THE BIBLE ANSWER GIRL

Adam lived a very long time but he was not the oldest man to ever live. That honor goes to Methuselah, who lived to the ripe old age of 169. And, yes, 969 really meant 969 years old , just as our years are today. There is no difference. Would you like to live to be 1000?

This question comes to us from a listener in Canada named Billy and he is 8 years old.

Thank you Billy for listening and a great question.  There is nothing in the Bible that says, “Adam was such and such age when he died.”   However, we can read the ‘yawn’, very boring genealogies found in Genesis chapter 5 & 11 and then in Matthew, Luke, and 1 Chronicles.  Some spellings are a little different.   Plus if we put together other facts, we come up with an age of about 930.  The really cool thing is Adam lived long enough to know Noah’s daddy Lamech.  Oh man, can you imagine the stories they told?
